Industrial refrigeration and chilled glycol and water applications 03 This report was prepared on behalf of the Office of Environment and Heritage by Minus40, and is based on calculations and energy modelling conducted in mid 2010. Modelling was based on conventional single and two stage industrial refrigeration systems. Arbitrary load profiles, representative of common industrial refrigeration applications, were used to represent refrigeration plant duty. Ambient weather conditions were factored into the modelling and were based on records obtained from the Australian Bureau of Meteorology. Energy saving technologies were modelled as variants of the conventional single or two stage refrigeration plants. 04 Other criteria like functionality and construction costs are frequently given higher priority. The energy costs of a refrigeration plant could be reduced by around 40 per cent, possibly more, through adoption of the most energy efficient equipment and techniques. A total of 15 energy-saving technologies have been identified in this report, and while many require capital outlays, a series of verified case studies in the report indicate the payback period is often less than three years. With rising energy costs and growing environmental awareness, there is a growing need to reduce power consumption in the industrial refrigeration sector in NSW. This report outlines 15 energy saving technologies available to increase the energy efficiency …

P-139: Ram Sperm Motility Following 48 Hours of Refrigeration: Evaluation of Different Extenders for The Preservation of Ram Semen in Liquid State

Background: The application of laparoscopic method for intrauterine insemination is limited in sheep industry by the high cost of equipment and low pregnancy rate of frozen-thawed spermatozoa. Both disadvantages could be decreased if chilled ram semen is transported to the farms and inseminated through cervix. Semen extender provides the requirements for sperm and affects its motility, viabilit...

An ultrahigh-accuracy Miniature Dew Point Sensor based on an Integrated Photonics Platform

The dew point is the temperature at which vapour begins to condense out of the gaseous phase. The deterministic relationship between the dew point and humidity is the basis for the industry-standard "chilled-mirror" dew point hygrometers used for highly accurate humidity measurements, which are essential for a broad range of industrial and metrological applications. However, these instruments h...
